We all know the fable by Aesop (620–564 BC) in which a crow has found a piece of cheese and retired to a branch to eat it. A fox, wanting it for himself, flatters the crow, calling it beautiful and wondering whether its voice is as sweet to match. When it lets out a caw, the cheese falls and is devoured by the fox.

What is not known to many people is that later the crow sold the story to Aesop and from the royalties the crow bought himself a nice bar brooch with the head of the fox depicted on it.

It is with great pride that The Adin Museum of Fairy Tale Artifacts is able to present you the evidence to this story by showing you a picture of the crow wearing the specific bar brooch. And - oh the coincidence! - this specific brooch happens to be in the Adin collection.

Abstract motives and geometrical forms are quite typical for the Art Deco period. Art Deco moved away from the soft pastels and organic forms of its style predecessor, Art Nouveau, and embraced influences from many different styles and movements of the early 20th century, including Neoclassical, Constructivism, Cubism, Modernism, and Futurism.

Its popularity peaked in Europe during the Roaring Twenties and continued strongly in the United States through the 1930s. Although many design movements have political or philosophical roots or intentions, Art Deco was purely decorative.
